Winter Family Fun Nights
Although holidays are peak family times, winter is also a great time to schedule other family fun activities. Cold, snowy days lend themselves to family dinners as well. Ordering in from PaNosh Kosher Catering means the family cook has an opportunity to enjoy the activities without having to worry about cooking, serving or cleanup. While you may be aware that PaNosh provides event services, we also offer catering services for groups as small as five.
Fun in the Great Indoors
When the weather outside is frightful, there are plenty of indoor actives for family fun nights. Movie night is a great time to break out the popcorn and hot chocolate. If family members have different suggestions, have a movie marathon and allow each person to pick a movie within a common theme or genre. Classic board games like Monopoly, Scrabble and Clue, are classics for good reasons. An indoor night is also a good time to learn a new card game or to see who can run the best poker bluff. Crafts are another good indoor activity; winter is a natural time for wreath-making. Climb your family tree – get out the photo albums and memorabilia, and tell the kids stories about Great Grandma and Grandpa. Any of these ideas can also be combined with a sleepover for the younger set, just spread sleeping bags in the living room. You could also have a formal dinner night – everybody gets gussied up and practices their best table manners over a special dinner catered by PaNosh. If you prefer the casual route, you could have a picnic on the living room floor instead with special finger foods from PaNosh.
East Side, West Side, All Around the Town
During the holidays, there are plenty of outdoor decorations in the neighborhood. Take a stroll and then vote for your favorites. If you've already seen your neighborhood decorations, go farther afield. A clear, cold night is great for star-gazing, although you may have to drive to get away from the reflections of city lights. The Ursid and Geminid meteor showers peak during the month of December, bundle up, take some lawn chairs and spend a few hours watching the heavens. When there's snow on the ground, a late afternoon of sledding could be followed by a delicious dinner catered by PaNosh. Or you could play hockey or go ice skating at night and then celebrate with some special kosher dessert treats. Got a barbeque? Fire it up and make S'Mores in the backyard. Build a snowman or a snow fort and have a snowball fight, then make snow angels.
